Year 10 and 11 Careers Guidance
Good luck at the start of a new academic year!
Year 10 and 11 are both very busy years. So well done and keep going! Whilst Year 10 students are just at the start of their journey, Year 11’s can just about see light at the end of the tunnel. Yet both years need to gently keep an eye on the end prize after GCSE’s. Freedom! And the chance to pick exactly what you wish to learn and where next!
Yet figuring out what this might look like - A levels, T level, technical qualification or apprenticeship - is not easy! Especially when you don’t know how being good at say History and French or DT could translate to the world of work. How about some help?

Your Interests and Strengths: Reflecting on who you are, what genuinely interests you about the world today and what you care about, is key to working out your right next step.
Your Learning Preferences: Understanding how you like to learn and be assessed is also key to picking the right next step - in terms of learning environment. Do you like learning academically so are drawn towards humanities, social sciences, or sciences, or a mix? Or are you a very practical person and find academic learning much less engaging?
Your Experience of education so far: How are you finding classroom learning and exams by Year 11? Which subjects are you still enjoying and why? If you had the choice again would you pick the same GCSE options? What have you learned so far about different skills and careers?
How can you Sanity-Check Your Plans?
It can be a really great idea, prior to finalising important college or sixth form courses, to check which careers are considered ideal for your personality type & your innate abilities. Why?
